We have not come to rule, but to serve the citizens: Home Minister Gurung
Kathmandu. Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has said that the present government has come to serve the people and not to rule in power. Addressing a lamp lighting program organized in memory of Jenji martyrs at the Old Parliament House premises on Tuesday evening, he claimed that the journey of good governance and change started by the younger generation would not be stopped by any conspiracy.
Saluting the martyrs, injured and all the Genji warriors on behalf of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Government of Nepal, Home Minister Gurung said that they have reached the place of giving rights from the situation of demanding their rights.
He said, “We should always bow down, always ask for our rights, fight for them. Today we have reached the place where we are given by those who ask for our rights. We demand our rights well, and if we don’t, we can snatch them. Democracy and republic should not be limited to speeches, they should be able to implement them.” “
He said that the previous rulers had created a situation of sending the youth of the country abroad and enjoying remittances, which was not an achievement. He said that due to the exodus of youths, the situation has come to turn the country into old age homes, so they have to join the movement by firing bullets.
Warning that those who do politics on the blood of the martyrs and loot the country will be brought to the dock by time, Home Minister Gurung said, “Those who committed this crime, looted the country, politicized our blood, shot our faceless brothers and sisters in the chest and head — have a message: we are watching, we are waiting. It is good to sleep peacefully now, but they have not even imagined which prison and where that sleep will be broken the next day.” Urging the people not to consider the government’s silence or restraint as weakness, he clarified that the power of the state would now be used only for the welfare of the people.
He said, “Now the helicopter is in our hands, the helicopter will no longer run away with anyone. Even if that helicopter flies, it will fly day and night to serve and rescue the citizens. The days of oppression of citizens on the strength of power are over, power is to serve the citizens.” He said that the government led by Balendra Shah will move forward with determination for five years and establish good governance.
Stating that various conspiracies were being hatched to make the government fail, Home Minister Gurung said that this government as well as Genji generation would fight for the country’s development till the last breath.
‘We are not the generation to lose. We did not lose that day in the movement, we did not lose even after the elections and we will not lose tomorrow. No matter how many conspiracies are hatched, this government and this generation will not bow their heads. We will fight till the last breath of the country’s development,” he said.
