Passengers face problems on alternative route to connect Rasuwa

Kathmandu. The devastating floods on August 26 have caused major damage to the highway from Trishuli to Betrawati.
The highway from Trishuli to Betrawati has been damaged due to the floods, so an alternative route has been brought into operation to maintain transportation access to the district headquarters. However, it has become very difficult to travel on this route.
The alternative route from Kalikasthan to Dhunche via Kathmandu, Chhahare, Bahunbesi, Sarmathali, Bhorle, Lychang has been difficult for the vehicles and people traveling due to heavy traffic and mud.
Currently, Phedibesi Chowk-Hiramunitar-Chogate-Bore Bhanjyang-Sano Khola-Dhanswara-Patikharka is being used to go to Rasuwa. Also, transportation is being operated via Patikharka-Lachyang-Narja-Apra-Bahunbesi-Chaughada bridge.
It is very difficult to reach the destination due to the traffic pressure and narrowness on this road. Due to the narrow road, there is a problem in two-way vehicular movement. The unpaved road is muddy due to rain. Meanwhile, Ganesh Neupane, a local of Naukunda Rural Municipality-4, said that the condition of the road leading to the village is very poor. He said that even though gravel and stones have been laid on the road, it is difficult to travel due to the mud due to rain.
According to Neipane, he had left Trishuli at 4 am to deliver his belongings to the village and the next evening, after unloading his belongings, he was sitting on the paved road. He said that after that, he was slowly returning home by throwing stones on the unpaved road.
‘I left Trishuli at four o’clock in the morning, but last evening I unloaded my belongings and came back and sat on the pavement. And now I am coming slowly by putting stones in this muddy,” Neipane said. The municipality also says that it has done it. But it is happening a little bit. According to him, even though gravel is laid on the road, the gravel is buried in the mud while many vehicles are moving. Due to this, the road is getting worse and it has become difficult to travel on foot and by vehicle.
‘When many vehicles walk, the gravel is buried in the mud. Where is it? It is impossible to walk on this road,” said Naipane. The flood has completely washed away 13 bridges in Rasuwa from Miteri Bridge alone. Two bridges at the Nuwakot and Rasuwa border were also washed away, cutting off the district road network.
