Drama performance of the injured of the Jenji movement, the struggle of the Jenji Wounded continues
Kathmandu. On the occasion of the Jenji Martyrs Memorial Day 2083, the injured of the Jenji movement performed a play at the Old Parliament Building in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu on Wednesday.
The drama presents the events that took place during the Genji movement, the pain of the families of the injured and martyrs and the expectations of the government that are yet to be fulfilled.
Speaking at the event, Badal Rai, chairman of the injured Genji Nepal, said that the struggle of the martyrs and injured is still going on. He said that the love and goodwill shown by the citizens while remembering the martyrs has made them feel more happy and proud.
He said, “I am even happier and proud to see you show love to the martyrs who are still alive today. We are our struggle, the struggle of the injured Jenji Nepal is still going on. I feel that you will always support the injured and martyr families in this struggle. And I am confident that you will give it.” Rai said that the injured and martyred families need the continuous support of the citizens. Recalling the pain suffered by the families of those injured and martyrs in the past movements, he called for the support of all quarters to prevent such situation from happening in the future.
‘The injured family and the martyr’s family always lack your support. Otherwise, no matter which government comes to power, let us look at the movement of 47 years, look at the movement of 19 years, from the movement before that to the people’s movement to the injured movement, now the injured movement is also the injured of the movement, we are the injured of the movement, we expect the support of all the mothers, fathers and brothers of Jenji so that we martyr families do not suffer like this in the future,” he said.
He said that through the play, they are trying to show the pain and wounds they suffered during the movement again in front of the society. He said that the drama had to be performed to remind them that the pain of the movement was being forgotten.
Stating that he would apologize if anyone was affected by the drama, Rai said that it was necessary to show the pain caused during the protest to the world.
‘I want to say sorry to all those who have been affected by this drama. But I had to show it to the world. They had forgotten, our wounds had withered. It was necessary to show that wound,” he said.
Rai said that the government has not yet been able to fulfill the dreams seen during the Genji movement. On the occasion, Rai thanked the director of the play and coordinator of the Genji Martyrs’ Day, Pratik Shrestha and all those who helped to make the program a success. He also expressed gratitude to the parents and family members of the martyrs present. He also thanked Ganesh Chaulagain, chairman of the struggle committee, and Narayan Shrestha, chairman of the martyr’s family, for the program. Rai also expressed his gratitude to the Home Minister and the Ministry of Home Affairs for the management and support of the program. He said that the support of the government should continue not only for today but also in the coming days. Rai said that the families of the injured and martyrs need the support of the government and citizens in the coming years as well.
