Kathmandu. The government has expedited the construction work on the blocked road at Krishnabhir along the Prithvi Highway with the aim of resuming transport services within the month of August.
Ten machines and 30 employees have been deployed to construct a new track of about 250 meters by cutting the hill at Krishnabhir.
The Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal has installed floodlights at the construction site, due to which the work is being carried out for 12 to 14 hours a day, even at night.
Along with the new track, works are being carried out at a rapid pace on both the top and bottom sides to prevent landslides, while works are also going on simultaneously to clear the landslide at 5 other places along this route and open two-way traffic.
On August 26, the road in the Krishnabhir area was weakened due to floods. Then on August 29, when the road collapsed due to the floods in the Bhotekoshi river, the government team inspected the site on the same day and the Prime Minister and Infrastructure Minister discussed the immediate repairs.
Technicians from the Department of Roads and Nepal Geotechnical Society had suggested the first option of constructing a new track of 250 meters by cutting the hill of Krishnabhir after a rapid study for 4 days.
