Play with fear, hold the country’s head high: Minister Pokharel
Kathmandu The Nepali players, coaches and team members participating in the 20th Asian Games to be held in Japan have been bid farewell.
The players and team members were bid farewell at a special program organized at the Ministry of Education and Sports on Thursday. On the occasion, Minister for
Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel praised the hard work, discipline and preparation of the Asian Games participants over the past few months.
He said, “First of all, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks and congratulations to all of you for the hard work that the players have put in in the last few months in self-discipline, hard work, preparation to represent Nepal.” Minister Pokharel said that the hard work, hard work, discipline and sacrifice of representing the country is more important for the players than the result.
He said, “We have full faith that your hard work will make Nepal’s head very high.” Earlier, one of the players also said, “Whatever the result is for us, it is the second thing, the secondary thing.” The first thing is that by representing the country, with the limited investment of the state, the amount of hard work that you have put in to represent the country, the most important thing for us, for the government, for the ministry, is the most important thing for us.
He urged the players to play freely in Japan and maintain the spirit of the game.
He said, “Whenever you play, you play without fear. Don’t stress yourself too much.” You have to give your best. When you go, go to Japan and play with discipline so that the country’s head is high. Use sportsmanship well. That is the most important thing. According to Minister Pokharel, 135 athletes, including 57 women and 78 men, will participate in 21 different sports from Nepal in the 20th Asian Games. A total of 211 people including 29 coaches, 17 managers and sports technicians, 6 medical teams, 4 journalists and special guests, chef the mission, deputy chef the mission and other officials will participate in the team.
Athletes from Nepal will participate in the event in archery, 6 in athletics, 4 in badminton, 7 in boxing, 15 in cricket, 2 in cycling, 4 in golf, 6 in judo, 24 in kabaddi, 8 in karate, 2 in rafting, 2 in skate and skateboarding, 4 in soft tennis, 2 in squash racket, 5 in swimming, 6 in table tennis, 3 in taekwondo, 5 in tennis, 12 in volleyball, 6 in wrestling and 10 in wushu. Minister Pokharel informed that the karate team has already gone to Japan and the teams of other sports will go to Japan on different dates. He clarified that the number of teams officially representing Nepal in the Asian Games is 211. He said that arrangements have been made to bid farewell to the players, coaches and team members participating in the Asian Games for the first time in Nepal through VIP and VVIP access from the airport.
He said, “The karate team has left, it is a small thing that we have sent all the remaining teams from the airport for the first time through VIP, VVIP access, but it is only a small gift of your hard work and hard work.” Minister Pokharel expressed his commitment to make the respect and facilities available to the players more systematic in the coming days.
He said that after returning from the Asian Games, he will get experience from the players and discuss the preparations and improvements needed for the upcoming competitions.
