Floods and landslides have blocked several major highways in the country.
Kathmandu. Various major highways in Bagmati and Karnali provinces have been completely and partially blocked due to floods and landslides. According to the latest information, traffic movement has been affected on the main road sections.
B. P. in Kavre, Bagmati Province. Cargo vehicles up to 10 tons have been banned from 7 pm to 5 am in view of the possible flood risk on the highway. At other times, vehicles will be allowed to operate from 4 am to 6 pm only after assessing the situation.
The floods on the Trishuli-Mailung-Syafrubesi road section of Rasuwa have completely blocked the road for a long time. Similarly, other major highways of Rasuwa are also completely closed until further notice.
The vehicular movement along the Tokha-Chhahare road section of Nuwakot has been halted from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am due to the risk of flood and landslide at Ghattekhola of Shivapuri Rural Municipality-8 while the Pasang Lhamu road section has been completely closed due to floods at Simtar of Betrawati-10. Landslides have also caused damages to various sections of the Prithvi Highway.
A major landslide occurred at Krishna Bhir in Benighat Rorang-7 and Kamerebhir in Thakre Rural Municipality-2 of Dhading district. However, one-way traffic has been resumed after clearing landslides at Jabangkhola and Thakre-2 Bahrakilo sections along the Dhading and Chitwan border. The Araniko Highway has come to a complete halt due to a landslide at Ghattekhola of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2 in Sindhupalchowk.
Meanwhile, the Mugu-Gamgadhi road section has been completely closed due to landslides that occurred at Talcha of Chhayanath Rara municipality-4 in Mugu district. Teams of the Department of Roads and security personnel are trying to clear the landslide and bring the obstructed road back into operation.
The concerned authorities have urged the people to travel safely only after understanding the latest condition of the road before embarking on a journey.
