Rescue operation of employees trapped in Chilime Tunnel intensified, resonating from inside and hope safe after the cold wind came
Kathmandu. The search and rescue operation of the employees trapped in the underground powerhouse of Chilime Hydropower Station in Rasuwa is progressing at a rapid pace.
Kulman Ghising, chairman of Ujjyalo Nepal Party and former managing director of Chilime Hydropower Company, has been carrying out technical coordination and facilitation at the rescue site. According to the information given through social media, the rescue team is continuously moving ahead clearing a large amount of mud, sand and stones piled up in the main access tunnel leading to the power house.
When the sound was sent from about 120 meters from the narrow place of the tunnel, its echo was heard and cold air was also coming from there. Ghising said that this has further strengthened the hope and speculation that the people trapped inside the tunnel are safe. According to him, now only about 100 meters are left to reach the power house.
In order to speed up the rescue, the excavator from Syaphrubesi is working at a fast pace to make the road to the tunnel. By today, there is a possibility of the excavator reaching the tunnel and then the rescue work will be done even faster with the use of excavators and loaders.
The Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Indian Army’s expert rescue team, local administration and employees of Chilime are working round the clock in this difficult and sensitive rescue operation. Expressing gratitude to all the security agencies and technical teams involved in the rescue operation, Ghising expressed confidence that all those inside the tunnel could be rescued safely.
