Agency. Security has been tightened on the second day of the 18th BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Sunday issued a public notice stating that traffic will be affected in various areas of the national capital due to VIP movement. Police have urged the public to use public transport and take designated alternative routes. Passengers going to airports, railway stations and interstate bus terminals have also been advised to set aside extra time for travel.
Also, commercial vehicles which are not the destination Delhi have been banned from entering the city.
Passengers going to the airport have been specially urged to use the metro, as the metro service is fully operational and there is no disruption, police said.
On the last day of the summit, members and partner countries will participate in an open session. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with leaders of seven countries.

Narendra Modi will meet leaders of South Africa, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Egypt, Burundi, Uganda and Nigeria.
On the sidelines of the summit, Modi will also meet South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. Earlier on
Saturday, the leaders unanimously passed the ‘New Delhi Declaration 2026’.
The inaugural session of the conference will be held at the Summit Hall, Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, with the theme “Resilience, Innovation, Collaboration and Sustainability: Building a Future of Inclusive Global Development”.
The Open Session is an important part of the two-day BRICS Summit being held under India’s Chairmanship on September 12-13. The session is expected to provide an opportunity for the leaders of the BRICS member states to discuss issues of common interest and exchange views on ways to further strengthen cooperation among the member states. There will also be discussions on advancing inclusive global economic growth. (ANI)
