In a message of best wishes on the occasion of National Children’s Day, Minister Badi said that the government is committed to ensuring a safe childhood and a bright future for every child by translating the slogan ‘Protecting Childhood: Safeguarding the Future’ into practice.

The government is to ensure the responsibility of the immediate rescue of children who have lost their parents due to disasters, separated from their families and in need of special protection, care, protection, rehabilitation and family reunification through the protection system of the state.

“Disasters can take away children’s homes, families or guardians, but we will not take away their childhood and their future,” she said.

According to him, the responsibility of the state cannot be fulfilled only by providing immediate relief and temporary protection to children after disasters. Their health, education, psychosocial status, security, family reunification and rehabilitation also need to be linked to the protection system of the state. Under the plan, the situation of children who have lost their parents due to disaster, separated from their families or who are in need of special protection will be identified and necessary protection and care will be arranged on the basis of their best interests. Under the initial implementation of the scheme, a temporary Child Protection Service Center has been set up for rescued children in need of special protection in Godavari Municipality-12, Thecho, Lalitpur. The center will provide safe shelter, food, health treatment, psychosocial support, family search and family reunification to the children.

According to the Ministry, appropriate long-term care and protection arrangements will be made after assessing the personal situation, needs and best interests of children in need of long-term protection.

The devastating floods in Bhotekoshi on August 26 this year caused a huge loss of life and property, including children. The Ministry has intensified conservation works in the affected areas, giving priority to the rescue and protection of the children affected by the disaster.

Minister Badi said that child protection is not only a matter of rescue and relief but also as a long-term responsibility of the state to ensure the life, rights and future of children. Minister Badi said that child protection is not only the responsibility of the government but also the common national responsibility of families, communities, schools, civil society, private sector, media and development partners.
