‘Grey Zone’ is strategic maneuvering, there is a big crisis in the superpower and Nepal’s geopolitics: Buddha Tshering Moktang
Kathmandu. Indigenous leader and foreign affairs expert Buddha Tshering Moktang has made a serious comment on the current geopolitical situation of Nepal and the strategy of the superpower countries. Speaking at a program organized at the National Press Club, he presented a sharp analysis of the activities of the ‘Grey Zone’ and the manipulation of Nepal’s sovereignty.
Moktang portrayed the ‘grey zone’ as a diplomatic and informational exercise that is not clearly defined but guided by strategic objectives. He said that such news portals, run by the US or special political interest groups, advance their agenda through tactical manipulation. Balen Shah’s visit to New York and its duration can be seen as a link to this, he argued. Referring to the history and trends of superpowers, he said, “The biggest fear for states in geopolitics is to lose power and to prevent the next survival crisis is the main nature of superpowers.”
Giving the example of the collapse of the ancient Magadha empire and Chanakya’s statecraft, he pointed out the historical fact of how large empires disintegrate due to internal and external pressures and weak systems.
Speaking about the current crisis of American superpowers, he claimed that the US is gradually heading towards decline. Quoting Singaporean professor Kishore Mahbubani of ‘Waste is Emperor Without Clothes’, he said that the dominance of the Atlantic powers is weakening and the economic and political center of the world is changing. He said that while China is moving towards becoming the number one economy, the US is not able to stop it.
Strongly criticizing Nepal, leader Moktang said that the country has suffered a major failure in the 70-year history of its sovereignty and statecraft. Referring to the recent political developments, the Jenji movement and the subsequent political scenario, he alleged that even the so-called old and new forces of Nepal are being guided by external interests and frameworks. He pointed out that effective renewal of the state and a strong security architecture were necessary to save the country from this geopolitical quagmire and crisis.
