Kathmandu. Labour and Culture Party lawmaker Dhruba Raj Rai has said that the government has not been able to adequately respond to the questions and demands of the people raised by the lawmakers of the opposition party in the current session.
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Friday, MP Rai said that he could not return to the people with enthusiasm as the session was about to end. He said, “Today, as the session is coming to an end, I am compelled to tell the people that I am returning empty.” He said that the government chief did not respond to the questions raised by the people of Bhojpur and the lawmakers of the opposition parties. He expressed his gratitude to the ministers of other ministries for responding to the issues raised by them. Rai said that the opposition would play a role in raising the voice of the people in the parliament by alerting the government. He said that both the ruling and opposition parties should move forward by putting their own issues in the multi-party exercise. He also suggested the incumbent ruling party to learn from the past political developments and move forward. Stating that the Nepali Congress had won majority in 2015 BS and the Maoists in 2008 BS in Nepal’s political history, he said that the Rastriya Swatantra Party is also in a powerful position now. Rai wished the ruling party an opportunity to work as per the expectations of the people if it could sustain the government for five years. “Don’t topple your own government,” he said. “Don’t be negligent, the practice of the House is for the opposition and the ruling party to put their views here and make the ruling party aware,” he said. “
Houses were burnt in the incidents related to the activities of the leaders of the old parties and allegations of corruption during the recent political movement, Rai said that the present ruling party should not ignore the people’s discontent.
He said that the government and the ruling party should work in such a way that the opposition does not have to put forth their demands in the upcoming session. He also expressed hope that the situation of insulting the demands of the opposition should not be repeated in the coming parliament.
