Kathmandu. Information and messages related to the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress have been disseminated through about 100 digital boards located in major cities and markets across the country.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, NC Spokesperson Devraj Chalise said that around 100 digital boards have started disseminating information and message regarding the general convention.
He said, “Thousands of people are missing due to natural calamities. Hundreds of families have been separated. Hundreds of children have become orphans. In this context, the party has decided not to make any fuss in the name of publicity in the general convention to be held. Apart from a main gate, no other publicity material will be hung in the city market at the venue. Therefore, from September 3, information and messages related to the 15th general convention have been started to be disseminated from about 100 digital boards in the major cities and markets of the country including the Kathmandu Valley. The party also urges the friends who are contesting in the general convention to use only digital means of publicity. According to the information provided by the Central Election Committee, more than 7,700 delegates are participating in the general convention. Spokesperson Chalise said that for the first time in the history of the Congress, such a large number of delegates have been elected.
He said, “The delegates will participate in the inaugural session on the 18th, the closed session on the 19th and 20th and the election process on the 21st and 22nd.” The detailed program of the election is being prepared by the Central Election Committee. The 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress (NC) is scheduled to be delayed by two days due to natural calamities starting from October 1. Earlier, the program was scheduled for September 1.
Leaders of various political parties have been invited to the inaugural session. Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Chairman of Nepali Communist Party Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Rajendra Lingden, Chairman of Janata Samajbadi Party Upendra Yadav, Chairman of Janamat Party Chandra Kanta Raut, General Secretary of Labour Culture Party Aren Rai and Acting General Secretary of Rastriya Janamorcha Shyam Poudel are scheduled to attend the meeting. Chantal Kambiba, executive coordinator of Socialist International, has arrived in Nepal as an international guest. Chalise said that the participation of other international guests is confirmed. The technical and managerial preparations required for the general convention have reached the final stage. A total of 15 committees have been formed for the preparations. The construction of the stage is going on at a rapid pace at the opening venue Khula Manch while preparations are being made for various halls to conduct the closed session. Chalise said that a media centre and primary health care centre would be set up at the venue.
The Housing Management Committee has appointed one coordinator from each constituency, district and province to coordinate the accommodation of the convention delegates from the respective geography. Arrangements have been made for the participants to bear the cost of accommodation and transportation to the venue.
Arrangements have been made for accommodation in Airport, Gaushala, Sundhara, Thamel, Lazimpat, Kalanki and New Bus Park areas. Participants will get information about this through WhatsApp, AI number and SMS. Breakfast, lunch and evening meals have been arranged at Bhrikutimandap. The Nepali Congress (
NC) has said it will hold a press conference every day to update the information related to the general convention. Spokesperson Chalise informed that the press conference will be held from the media centre which will be stationed at the venue from Saturday.
