3,006 police personnel will be deployed in Kathmandu during the festive season
. The District Police Range, Kathmandu has announced that it will mobilize 3,506 police personnel for the festivals.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Dan Bahadur Thapa said that the security plan has been prepared keeping in mind the possible security challenges during the festival time. According to him, most of the deployed police personnel will be deployed in uniform and 70 in plain clothes.
The police have divided them into 98 different sectors and assigned them responsibilities.
Thapa said, “A security plan has been started for the festival. For this, 3,506 police personnel will be mobilized. We will bring 190 police manpower from the taluk office. We have already fixed 14 places for the help desk. The police will be in uniform and 70 people will be in plain clothes. These police personnel have been divided into 98 different sectors and the work has also been divided. He said that 166 mobile phones and vans have also been mobilized to make the security arrangements effective. According to him, CCTV cameras have been installed at 1,242 places in Kathmandu. Police have identified murder, rape, human trafficking, kidnapping, threats, pickpocketing, theft, gambling, looting, forgery of foreign currency and mixing drugs in beverages as security challenges during the festivals. Thapa said that the security plan has been made keeping these challenges in mind. The police have also categorised various religious, cultural and traditional shrines, food and goat bazaars, public gatherings, bus parks and vehicle management, government and private offices, banks and financial institutions, shopping malls and shopping malls on the basis of security priority. Police said security would be strengthened during the festival season by deploying police at these places as per the need.
