Iranian forces intensify action in the Strait of Hormuz, attacking 7 oil tankers in five days
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) navy has carried out operations against at least seven “violating” oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz in the past five days, according to Iranian news agency Fars.
According to Fars, the IRGC navy has targeted at least one oil tanker every day over the past five days.
US President Donald Trump insists the US controls the Strait of Hormuz, but Iran has tightened its grip on the Strait of Hormuz.
Independent military observer MenchOsint quoted Fars as saying that two oil tankers exploded in the Strait of Hormuz on Friday. One of them exploded at the entrance of the waterway and the other at the exit.
In the previous four days, Kuwait’s Al Funtas and Kazmiha III, as well as the United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s Sinbad, Mersin Prosperity, were also attacked. On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a joint military offensive against Tehran, which has targeted US military bases and assets in Israel and the Middle East.
Since then, Iran has tightened its grip on the Strait of Hormuz, preventing the safe passage of ships directly or indirectly related to Israel and the United States, Fars said. The escalating military tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil transport routes, have added to the risks in the international oil supply and energy market. CCTV
