We expect Deuba’s presence in the general convention: Min Bahadur Bishwakarma
Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader Min Bahadur Bishwakarma has said that the party’s supreme leader Sher Bahadur Deuba is expected to be present in the 15th general convention.
Bishwakarma, who participated in the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress, said that efforts are being made to include leaders outside the Congress in the mainstream of the party. He said that the schedule of the general convention is also being revised and postponed in a flexible manner. He expressed the belief that leader Deuba, who has long political experience and contribution to Nepali democracy, would be present in the general convention and would continue the party’s historical heritage. When asked if Deuba’s presence has been confirmed, Bishwakarma said that if Deuba’s presence was confirmed, he would have said ‘he is coming’.
He said that Deuba’s presence will help establish his political personality and dignity as a happy exit. He said that Deuba is expected to be present in the general convention as he is popular among the Nepali people and a common leader of the Nepali Congress.
Leader Bishwakarma said that since the Nepali Congress is not a local, ethnic or religious party but a national party, there is a need for a common leadership that can address the diversity of the Nepali society. He said that the NC needs a leadership that can lead the ideology and coordinate all the political forces by addressing the ideological deviations seen in Nepali politics. He said that there are capable leaders in the current working committee of the Congress and new leadership will come from among them. Bishwakarma said that he also saw the possibility of the current president of the party, Gagan Kumar Thapa, becoming the unanimous president of the party.
