Journalists say: The NC general convention will determine the future political direction

Kathmandu. Journalists have expressed the belief that the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress will decide the direction of the upcoming national politics along with the election of a new leadership of the party at a time when the political situation is fluid.
They are of the view that the general convention should take an important decision on resolving the internal disputes within the party, forming a clear view as an opposition party and the party’s role in national politics. Journalist Jagat Nepal said that the general convention of the Nepali Congress has special significance in the current political situation. Talking to Nepal News Bank, he said that the NC should make its political stance clear when the parliament has not been effective despite having a large majority government and there is no clarity on the direction of the next politics. He said, “Mainly when the general convention of the Nepali Congress is being held now, it has to decide many things. Because politics is in a very fluid state.
There is a government with a two-thirds majority, but it has not made the parliament effective. It is not clear in which direction the politics will go. He said that the Congress as an opposition party needs to have a clear view on the internal disputes within the Nepali Congress as well as the direction in which to take the country in the future.
“In such a situation, if there is a situation to settle the internal disputes within the Nepali Congress, then the stand of opposition should also be determined where to take the next country,” he said.
According to him, the decision of the Nepali Congress, the oldest political party of the country with a history of eight decades, through the general convention can also affect the future course of Nepal’s politics.
‘The oldest political party in Nepal, has a history of eight decades. I think such a decision will become a course in the future politics of Nepal. Therefore, I think the general convention is important,” Nepal said.
He further said that the leadership to be elected from the general convention should not only take the party forward in the coming days but also the aspect of how the NC takes the overall national politics forward. He said that since Nepal media has its own policies and readers-audience, the reporter should be able to distinguish different aspects of the general convention and identify the appropriate angle of the news.
‘Any media has its own policy, it has its own audience. The reporter looks at different angles. All the angles should be identified and the milk and water should be separated like a flamingo. The skill of the reporter has to be seen there, they should be able to distinguish it,” he said.
Likewise, journalist Damodar Prasad Dawadi said that people from all over the country are enthusiastically coming to Kathmandu to participate in the general convention due to the historical importance of the Nepali Congress. Talking to various people who had come to participate in the general convention, he said that he found that they had been coming to Kathmandu since the previous day and took the NC general convention as enthusiasm. Dawadi said that the party cadres and well-wishers across the country have shown interest and enthusiasm towards the general convention as it is a historic party. Dawadi said that the participants are also interested in the presence of national political personalities in the general convention and their views. He said that the leaders are of the opinion that the Congress should move forward more strongly in the coming days as it is a democratic party. Dawadi said that the reporting of the general convention was moving forward in a positive way and now the process of incorporating the views and political messages of the leaders with priority has started.
