Home Minister Sudan Gurung has said that he has been monitoring the trend of leaking confidential and sensitive information to unauthorized persons or agencies by the officials and employees of the Ministry of Home Affairs and its subordinate bodies.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Home Minister Gurung said sensitive information of the state is not anyone’s private property but a public responsibility. Gurung said that although the post

provides access to information, it does not give the right to misuse it. He said that even the smallest information, information or secret information received from the Ministry of Home Affairs and its subordinate bodies will play a decisive role in preventing crime, advancing investigation and establishing the truth of serious incidents in future.

Gurung warned that anyone who deliberately betrays the privacy entrusted to him by the state will not be spared.

He wrote, “For a long time, I have been observing the tendency of any official or employee in the Ministry of Home Affairs and its subordinate bodies to leak confidential or sensitive information to unauthorized persons or agencies, forgetting their official status. The sensitive information of the state is not anyone’s private property, it is a public responsibility. The post gives access to information, but does not give the right to misuse. Even the smallest information, clues or secret information received here play a decisive role in preventing crime, advancing investigation, or establishing the truth of any serious incident in the future. Anyone who deliberately betrays their country and organization on the secrecy entrusted to them by the state will not get any immunity and will be brought to justice. ’
