Kathmandu. Advance booking of public transport tickets targeting Dashain, Tihar and Chhath will be opened from October 23. A meeting of the stakeholders organized by the Department of Transport Management on Tuesday decided to open advance bookings. More than 10 lakh passengers are expected to leave the Kathmandu Valley during Dashain.
The meeting has also decided to keep two drivers compulsorily in long-route vehicles, the staff at the ticket counters would have to wear identity cards and uniforms and record the names and contact numbers of the passengers while issuing tickets.
Similarly, the department has said that strict action will be taken against those involved in overcharging fares, black marketeering and irregularities in tickets. It has also been decided to make first aid kits, fire fighting equipment and drinking water mandatory in passenger vehicles and to set up a central information center to exchange information about the condition of highways and accidents.
