KATHMANDU — Nepali Congress (NC) Parliamentary Party leader Kamala Panta has made it clear that she has not voluntarily filed candidacy for any post of Central Working Committee (CWC) in the 15th General Convention.

In a conversation with Nepal News Bank, Pant said that she did not file her candidacy on her own volition. She said that she did not file her candidacy this time to give a chance to others, saying that even if she is not in the post, she can work for the party.

She said, “I don’t always have to get up. I am a party worker. I can work for the party even if I am not in office. Now I have to help other friends. I am not an indispensable person for the party. Pant also clarified that the reason for not filing her candidacy was that the news related to family affairs was wrong. She said that she and her husband have been doing their own politics and work and that she did not back down because of each other’s candidatures.

‘We have done our own politics, we have done our own work. There is nothing in it. Not because of family reasons, child, there is nothing. We don’t think that I will stop fighting because of him, he will stop fighting because of me,” she said.

Pant said that she was not a candidate in the special general convention before and later she did not accept the nomination even when the party leaders tried to nominate her. Recalling that she was defeated by a small margin for the post of joint general secretary, she said that she would contest again in the future if she wanted. Her husband Madhu Acharya is in the fray. Pant was elected as a central member from the 12th and 13th general conventions. She contested for the post of joint general secretary in the 14th general convention but was defeated.
