Kalikot. The Karnali highway has been obstructed. The Surkhet-Jumla road section has been obstructed since Wednesday morning due to a landslide in Gagne River at Shuvakalika-1 in Kalikot district.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Him Bahadur Khatri, chief of Kalikot District Police Office, said that the road could not be resumed immediately as the landslide has been continuously falling. “The road has been obstructed since Wednesday morning due to landslides,” he said, adding, “Vehicles coming from Surkhet have been stranded at Khirki, Jyula and Daikhola while vehicles coming from above to Surkhet have been stranded at Manma, Hulma and Khulalu bazaar of Kalikot.”
According to the Road Division Office, Jumla, the landslide debris could not be removed even though a JCB machine was stationed at the site of Gagne Khola.
The road was disrupted after a landslide with mud fell on the Gagne River. Efforts are being made to clear the landslide and reopen the road.
