Five houses damaged in fire at furniture factory in Birtamod

Jhapa. A fire broke out from a furniture factory at Bhadrapur Road in Birtamod Municipality-4 of Jhapa on Wednesday, destroying five houses in the vicinity.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ranjan Awa, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Jhapa, the fire started from a furniture factory in Bhadrapur Line. He said that although five houses were damaged in the fire, there was no human casualty. “No human casualties have been reported but four to five houses have been damaged in the fire,” he said.

Police, Armed Police Force and locals were mobilized to control the fire. The fire was brought under control with their efforts, police said.

According to the police, the initial cause of the fire is suspected to be an electrical shortage. However, the exact cause of the incident and the damage caused by the fire are being investigated, according to the District Police Office, Jhapa.
