Congress General Convention: Voting process postponed further
Kathmandu. The voting process for the election of a new central leadership under the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress has reached the final stage. The construction of polling stations or booths has almost been completed, according to the Central Election Committee.
Voting for the election of the new leadership of the Congress is scheduled to start at 1 pm, but there is a possibility of being pushed back. The possibility of postponing the voting has increased due to problems in the internal management of the candidates and the printing of ballot papers.
The Election Committee has started discussions with the candidates of the office bearers regarding the election management in order to start voting at the earliest. Coordinator of the Central Election Committee and senior advocate Prem Bahadur Khadka said that the voting would start from noon due to rain and technical reasons. A total of 7,2
55 delegates will vote to elect a new central working committee.
The Election Committee has made public the final list of leaders who have filed their candidacies for the post of president, office-bearers and central members on Wednesday evening. The election committee has been holding discussions with all the candidates for the post of president, vice-president and general secretary at the National Assembly Hall this morning, according to election committee member-secretary Raju Katuwa.
The committee has also asked people not to stand in queues since morning. Separate polling stations have been arranged for the voting on the basis of the province and representation of the general convention representatives.
According to the revised election schedule made public by the Election Committee, the representatives of Bagmati Province will cast their votes from the polling station ‘A’ located at the National Assembly Hall.
Khula Manch has been designated as Polling Station ‘B’. The Khula Manch will be the polling centre for the representatives of Koshi Province and Tarai-Madhes group.
Similarly, the representatives of Gandaki Province in the Khula Manch will vote from the Himal Hall. The Tarai-Madhes Hall has been designated for the representatives of Madhes Province in the Khula Manch.
