Similarly, Deputy Mayor of the municipality, Murari Tamang, said that mother tongue is an important basis for the identity of the community. He compared the role of a language teacher to that of a mother and praised the contribution of Shanta Tamang, who works as a Tamang language teacher at Jhor Mahankal Secondary School.

‘The child first learns the language from the mother. Therefore, the teacher who teaches the language, Shanta Tamang, is the mother of this school. The participants of the program were of the view that by providing education in the mother tongue, children can gain knowledge about their original identity, history and cultural heritage and strengthen their relationship with the community. They emphasized that language preservation should not be limited to the school curriculum but should also be used in the family, community and daily practice. With the inauguration of Tamang language classes, a new initiative has been initiated at Jhor Mahankal Secondary School to preserve the mother tongue. For its effectiveness and continuity, cooperation between the local level, school management, teachers, guardians and Nepal Tamang Ghedung is necessary. It is believed that the language, culture and community identity can be kept alive for future generations only if the new generation is given the opportunity to learn and use their own mother tongue.
