Tilak Bahadur Malla unanimously elected as the Mugu president of the Nepali Congress Deuba faction
. The Sher Bahadur Deuba faction of the Nepali Congress has held a district convention in Mugu with a show of strength.
The convention unanimously elected Tilak Bahadur Malla as the district president. Khagendra Malla and Tilak Bahadur Malla were vying for the post of district president.
However, Tilak Bahadur Malla has been elected the party president unanimously after Khagendra Malla relinquished his claim to make the party stronger in the district and unify the organization.
The convention has also elected a 27-member district working committee. The district convention has also elected delegates for the 15th convention of the center.
The convention held in Mugu, the home district of former Forest Minister Ain Bahadur Shahi, who is actively leading the Deuba faction in Karnali Province, is considered politically meaningful. The Deuba faction has demonstrated its organizational presence and political strength by participating in a large number of party cadres in the convention.
The district convention is not limited to the selection of leadership but has been taken as an opportunity to show the organizational influence within the party.
NC leader and former minister Shahi said that the ward, municipality, province ‘A’ and ‘B’ and district conventions in Mugu were successful at a time when there were two factions in the party. Nepali Congress youth leader and Mahasamiti member Dharma Raj Shahi said that the convention was successfully concluded after a long struggle. As part of the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress, district conventions have been held in the hilly districts of Karnali district as part of the ward convention process that began on September 30. Surya Bahadur Shahi of Humla and Netra Kala Shahi of Jumla have been elected as district presidents. With the election of Tilak Bahadur Malla as the leader of Mugu, the district Congress has got the responsibility of running the organization with a new working committee.
