Ghatasthapana is being celebrated with reverence and devotion across the country today

Kathmandu. On the first day of Bada Dashain, the great festival of Nepalis, Ghatasthapana is being celebrated with reverence and devotion throughout the country. Navratri formally begins with Ghatasthapana, which is celebrated on the day of Ashwin Shukla Pratipada.

On the day of Ghatasthapana, there is a tradition of keeping Jamara in every house and worshiping Durga Bhawani by installing an urn. The Kalash is established as a symbol of happiness, prosperity, opulence and auspiciousness and special worship is performed throughout Navratri.

On the occasion of Ghatasthapana, the Jamara is placed in a pure place in the morning by scattering barley on clay or sand. After this, the Kalash is established and Goddess Bhagwati is worshipped.
