Jamara is duly kept at the Dashain house in Hanumandhoka, Kathmandu. On the first day of Navratri, Jamara is kept at the Dashain house.
On the first day of Dashain, on the occasion of Ghatasthapana, it is customary to keep Jamara in every house. In the morning, after performing daily rituals, sand or soil is brought and Jamara is sown in a room smeared with cow dung or in Dashain house.
