Kathmandu. President of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Dr. Hemraj Sharma has said that the NRNA is ready to collaborate with the government for the reconstruction of the areas affected by the recent devastating floods in Nepal.

Issuing a message of congratulations on the completion of 23 years of the establishment of the association, President Sharma expressed this commitment. Established in 2003 with the main mantra of ‘Nepali for Nepali’, the campaign has expanded its network to more than 90 countries. Sharma said the NRNA was ready to repay the debt of the motherland by joining hands with the government in the long-term reconstruction phase along with rescue and relief in the areas affected by the recent floods.

He also stressed on the need of fully implementing the non-resident Nepali citizenship system to implement the sentiment of ‘One time Nepali, Always Nepali’. According to him, although the NRNA Development Fund of Rs 10 billion has come into operation recently, the issue of citizenship has not been fully addressed which has reduced some confidence among the investors.

According to him, preparations have been made to establish the fourth World Knowledge Conference and ‘NRN Academic and Professional Academy’ to encourage intellectual investment and technology transfer for the development of Nepal. Sharma said that the NRNA has been collaborating with organizations like International Labour Organization, IOM and Red Cross for the rights of workers around the world, safe immigration and voting rights. He also thanked the Non-Resident Nepalis around the world for their support to the flood victims recently and extended best wishes for happiness, peace and prosperity to all Nepalis living in the country and abroad on the occasion of festivals including Bada Dashain, Tihar and Chhath.
