Kathmandu. The Traffic Management Procedure Directive, 2060 has been amended to facilitate the registration and transfer process of new and old vehicles. According to the amended provision, the vehicle owner can now register and transfer even if he does not appear in the Transport Management Office.
According to the information made public by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, the vehicle buyer can do the registration and naming work through the person who has given the warrant. For this, the person who has received the warrant will have to be present at the concerned office with his original identity card, the photo of the buyer and the original identity card of the buyer.
The amended provision has also recognized the inspection of vehicles done by the dealer. Now, the vehicles that have been inspected by the dealer will not have to be taken back to the Transport Management Office for inspection.
Similarly, the provision of vehicle owners to be present in person for vehicle insurance and insurance renewal has also been removed. This is expected to reduce the time and hassle of vehicle owners.
The amendment also includes a provision that the Transport Management Office will provide necessary technical access to vehicle sellers, distributors or companies to facilitate obtaining the required biometric details during the naming process. The ministry expects these changes to make the vehicle registration and naming process simple, easy and service-oriented.
