Kathmandu. Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol has held technical and administrative consultations with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Manohara Land Pooling Project to restore the course of the river as per the approved detailed project report.
According to the approved DPR, the river should have been as per the 2021 survey map. As a result, around 100 ropanis of land on the Kathmandu side has been shifted to Bhaktapur and around 15 ropanis of land towards the Bhaktapur side.
Studying the map of the river area with Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragain and Chief of Manohara Land Integration Project Nirmal Raj Baral, Acting Mayor Dangol said that KMC prioritized the demarcation of the area as per the DPR by completing the legal and administrative process immediately.
She said, “The project should be completed at the earliest by forwarding the works which could not be operated earlier due to the unsystematic settlement on the river bank.” For this, cost estimates should be prepared, manpower mobilization plan should be prepared and the plan should be implemented immediately. ’
Directing the Chief Administrative Officer of KMC, Saroj Guragain, he urged the metropolis to give top priority to the proper management of the people who have registered themselves as landless from the settlements, management of construction materials in the places vacated and protection of these places repeatedly. ’
According to Nirmal Raj Baral, chief of the Manohara Land Pooling Project, 575 meters of the river is in the original condition. The flow in the rest of the river has changed.
