The people’s representatives are of the view that although it is possible to vacate the land by managing some families who have encroached upon the government land, it is not possible to evict the families who have been living unsystematically on the public land for years.
“The Land Commission formed by the erstwhile government has already collected detailed data of unsystematic settlers, landless and landless squatters,” said Birendra Bhatta, chairman of the Nepal Municipalities Association Far-Western Province Executive Committee and mayor of Godavari Municipality of Kailali. If we try to do that, we will go against the federal government. ’
He said that the citizens who have been paying taxes to the state without using the land for many years cannot be made to live. “The municipality and rural municipality associations are clear on this issue and we are also issuing a joint statement today (Tuesday). ’
According to Bhatta, distributing the land certificates to the unsystematic settlers on the basis of the data collected by the Land Commission will help the state collect tax and solve the problem in a sustainable manner. Chairperson of the Federation of Nepal Rural Municipality Sudurpaschim Province and Chairperson of Jorayal Rural Municipality of Doti Durga Dutta Ojha also said that the federal government has opened works in a hurry.
“It would be good to follow the good works, the Land Commission has already done a lot of work, it will be easy for all to work on the basis of that, but it will not be easy if we try to remove all the citizens living on the unregistered land. ’
