Kathmandu. A ward chair has been arrested on the charge of raping a 28-year-old woman in Mugu. Datta Bahadur Budha, 42, chairman of Patarasi Rural Municipality-5 in Jumla district, was arrested on Wednesday.
Police arrested the accused after the victim lodged a complaint at District Police Office, Jumla on May 5. According to the complaint, the victim was repeatedly threatened and raped.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rabin Babu Regmi of District Police Office, Jumla, said that further investigation into the case was underway. The court has remanded him in custody for five days.
