Traffic police collect more than Rs 1.18 crore revenue in a week

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Traffic Police have taken action against 13,090 drivers and road violators in the past one week.

8 million has been collected from the action taken during the period. According to the Traffic Police, increasing traffic pressure, unmanaged parking, careless operation of vehicles and ignoring traffic rules have contributed to the increasing risk of road accidents. Regular checking, monitoring and special campaign have been launched to control it.

According to Spokesperson of Traffic Police and Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi, action has been taken against 629 drivers for drunken driving and 1,036 for violating ride-sharing rules.

Similarly, 1,282 drivers were taken action for breaching red light, 778 for speeding, 540 for encroaching lane, 640 for encroaching on road and footpath, 1,646 for violating the no-horn zone and 762 for driving one-way vehicles.

“Our aim is not just to raise revenue, but to ensure safe travel for citizens and reduce road accidents,” he said.

Strict action has been taken against drunk, speeding, mobile driving and signal violation, which lead to accidents.
