Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a difficult phone call over diplomatic efforts related to Iran, Axios reported.

According to the report, the US and Iran discussed a new diplomatic initiative to seek consensus on the nuclear program and regional issues. Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Egypt are among the mediators in this initiative. “After the talks, Prime Minister Netanyahu was very upset and very angry,” the report said.

A new draft of the proposed U. S. and Iran deal is currently under discussion, which is expected to include explicit commitments to Iran’s nuclear program and conditions on frozen assets.

President Trump has said he is open to the possibility of a diplomatic solution, but has indicated that military options remain if necessary. “The situation is between compromise and conflict,” he said.

Iran says it is studying the revised proposal, but has not indicated a major change in its position. Meanwhile, Israel has expressed concern over the talks and stressed the need to take a tough stance. According to the report, there is a clear difference of opinion between the two leaders on Iran policy. So far, neither the White House nor the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office have made an official statement on the matter. ANI
