agency. Temperatures have broken records in the northern parts of India, including the capital New Delhi. The temperature has reached over 46 degrees Celsius.

Experts from India’s Meteorological Department have predicted extreme heat in some parts of the country on Thursday and Friday, posing major challenges for outdoor workers.

“The hot weather has caused us a lot of problems. In the evening it was 42 or 43 degrees Celsius, and on Tuesday the temperature reached 46 degrees. Workers cover their heads to protect themselves from the sun. They try to stay in the shade as much as possible and cut down on the time they spend outside. We always carry lemon water and drink enough to stay healthy,” said Umakant, an outside worker in New Delhi.

Apart from the capital, Uttar Pradesh and other regions are also reeling under intense heat. Parts of Uttar Pradesh recorded temperatures of 48.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, the highest temperature since 1951.

Forecasters have predicted that heatwave conditions will continue across most parts of India until at least next week. (CCTVplus)
