Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal Police and the municipality have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to install CC cameras in Chandragiri municipality of Kathmandu. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the municipality and Nepal Police on Thursday to install CC cameras along the main road from Chandragiri, Nagdhunga to Kalanki and the road leading to the ward office.
CC cameras are to be installed in the municipality area to further strengthen the security system. An agreement to this effect was signed by Mayor Ghanashyam Giri and Additional Inspector General of Police Ishwor Karki, Chief of Kathmandu Valley Police Office. As Nagdhunga lies in the biggest entry point to the Kathmandu Valley, it lies in Chandragiri municipality, said police have collaborated with the police to make peace and security effective and technology-friendly. He expressed the belief that the installation of CCTV cameras would help control criminal activities and manage traffic.
Additional Inspector General of Police Karki said the role of citizens and local government was significant to strengthen security system. “Security is possible only through collective efforts of all, we highly appreciate this investment made by the local government in the sector of security and I have expressed commitment of full cooperation from the police in resolving the problem.”
Currently, around 400 CC cameras have been installed in Chandragiri municipality. Municipality spokesperson Krishna Prasad Khadgi said the agreement has been reached with Nepal Police for the installation of CC cameras in the municipality and the municipality has been reinforced.
