Kathmandu. The meeting is taking place at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar at 3:00 pm today. The meeting is likely to appoint a new chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON).
The recommendation committee formed for the appointment of the chairman of the board has been recommended from 47 applicants. Nawaraj Adhikari, Binay Dev Acharya, Mukunda Kumar Chhetri and Dr. Gopal Prasad Bhatta has been shortlisted and interviewed and action plan has been presented. Three of them have been recommended to the Council of Ministers.
Among the candidates in the fray, Dr. Adhikari is the former executive director of SEBON while Binay Dev Acharya is currently the executive director of SEBON. Dr. Mukunda Kumar Chhetri Gopal Bhatta is the former executive director of Nepal Rastra Bank.
The Cabinet will appoint one person from among the three recommended members to the post of chairperson, which has been lying vacant since April 5. With the appointment of the new chairman, the process of issuing IPOs, which have been stalled for a long time, is expected to gain momentum.
