Kathmandu. Ganesh Parajuli, a lawmaker from the Rastriya Independent Party, said there was a huge possibility of expansion of trade, investment, tourism and labour collaboration between Nepal and Romania. Inaugurating the Nepal-Romania Business Forum organized in the capital on Monday, Minister Gyawali said although the current volume of trade between the two countries is small, many areas of cooperation are open in the days ahead.
He said that Nepal could provide high quality garments, handicrafts, medicinal herbs, agricultural products and information technology services. “Romania is an important opportunity for market access, technology transfer and industrial cooperation,” he said, referring to Romania as a gateway to the European Union. Parajuli said that Romanian investment in infrastructure, hydropower, tourism, information technology and manufacturing sectors would be welcomed. The joint investment could help create jobs, increase productivity and promote innovation in both countries, he added.
“There are huge potentials for expansion of trade, investment, tourism and labour cooperation between Nepal and Romania. Nepal can provide high-quality garments, handicrafts, medicinal herbs, agricultural products and information technology services. Nepal welcomes Romanian investment in infrastructure, hydropower, tourism, information technology and manufacturing sectors. ’
“Nepali workers are hardworking, honest and adaptable, and expansion of safe and orderly labour migration will benefit both countries,” he said. “Apart from meeting Romania’s labour demand, it will also contribute to Nepal’s remittance, skill development and economic strengthening,” he added. Parajuli also stressed on skill exchange along with labour migration. He was of the view that tourism and cultural exchanges between Nepal and Romania could further strengthen the people-to-people relations between the two countries.
“Nepal welcomes tourists to Romania and is a country of the Himalayas and rich cultural heritage.
He expressed confidence that Nepal-Romania Business Forum would transform the dialogue into practical partnership adding that the relations between the two countries would be further strengthened with the continued cooperation.
