Resident doctors to be discharged after 24-hour duty at Bir Hospital

Kathmandu. Bir Hospital has issued a directive to compulsorily discharge resident doctors after 24 hours of duty. Issuing a circular, Bir Hospital has issued a circular to compulsorily discharge the residents (doctors) after the completion of the morning ward round.

At present, trainee doctors, interns and residents are agitating with their various demands. As per the Nepal Labour Act, 2074 BS, a maximum of 12 hours a day and no more than 72 hours a week should be made mandatory as per the Nepal Labour Act, 2074 BS.

They have also demanded that those working more than 48 hours a week should be provided overtime allowance as per the Labor Act.

Bir Hospital has taken this decision keeping in mind the demand of resident doctors.
