MoU signed with three organizations for helicopters, drones and rafts for disaster management

. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), Airlines Operators Association of Nepal, Nepal Drone Association and Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA) on Tuesday.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between these three organizations and NEA amidst a program organized at NEA today.

As per the agreement reached with the Airlines Operators Association of Nepal, the airline will provide free flights to the Kathmandu Valley and at minimum operating cost if they have to fly outside the Valley. 

Similarly, as per the agreement with Nepal Drone Association, the Authority should provide drone and related equipment (including pilots) free of cost to the Authority if the use of drone is necessary during the time of disaster.

 

The Authority has stated that the NRA will make arrangements for the travel and accommodation of the members deputed in this work.

Similarly, as per the MoU with Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA), the NARA should provide the rafts and related equipments (including human resources) free of cost to the NRA for the use of rafts during the time of disaster. As per the agreement, the raft and human resources would be used for immediate search and rescue of people affected by flood, inundation and river-induced disasters, and for the transportation of relief materials, medicines and rescue teams. The MoU will remain valid for one year and can be renewed on mutual understanding, reads the statement. 

On the occasion, NRA Executive Chief Pradip Kumar Koirala stressed the need of cooperation and coordination among the government, private sector and community during the time of disaster.

He expressed gratitude to the private sector for the service of the disaster, saying the disaster could be overcome only with the cooperation of all. Similarly, General Secretary of Airlines Operators Association of Nepal, Murlidhar Joshi, President of Nepal Drone Association, Raj Bikram Maharjan, and Officiating President of Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies, Shiva Adhikari, expressed commitment that they were ready to provide any possible assistance for the safety of life and property of the people in the disaster.

Under-Secretary at the National Emergency Operation Center Phanindra Prasad Poudel, representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, Department of Roads, Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force Nepal were also present on the occasion.
