Rautahat. A youth has attempted suicide by pouring petrol on himself and setting himself on fire in Garuda Municipality of Rautahat.
Gautam Kumar Sahani, 28, of Gamariya Tole in Garuda Municipality-9 set himself on fire.
Police suspect that Gautam, son of Devendra Sahani, might have taken this step due to family or some other reason.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Information Officer Basanta Gautam said that he suffered 31.5 percent burns below his neck in the fire. Immediately after the incident, he was taken to Garuda-based Better Nepal Hospital for treatment. He was referred to Kathmandu after primary treatment, according to the Area Police Office, Garuda.
His condition is said to be moderate and his father is involved in treatment, police said.
During the initial interrogation of the police, the injured youth was on medication for mental illness and had consumed alcohol (M. P. S.) at the time of the incident, according to his family members. Further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
