. KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has said the human-wildlife conflict was a significant issue directly related to the lives of the citizens and it should be resolved by the political parties.
Speaking at a programme on ‘human-wildlife conflict and safe coexistence’ organised as part of the 12th ‘
Green Table’ programme of the Nepali Congress, Thapa said a document with suggestions would be prepared after holding extensive discussions on the issue.
He said the document would also be circulated to local governments and parliamentarians. Thapa said, “This is a very important issue related to the life of the citizens.
We are of the view that this should be addressed by the political parties. We will discuss this and prepare a document. Then we send it to the local government and present it to the friends in the parliament. He also admitted that the political parties have not been serious enough about such issues related to the daily life of the citizens.
According to him, the issues of concern of citizens such as human-wildlife conflict have not received adequate priority as the political parties often focus on big political issues.
‘Such issues never enter the offices of political parties. We get entangled in big issues. These are not big political issues, but important issues directly related to the lives of citizens. There should be a wider debate on this and we should find a solution,” he said.
