. Kathmandu: The CPN (UML) is organizing an interaction and training programme with its lawmakers in the federal parliament today with the objective of making its role in the parliament more effective.
At a programme organized by the party’s parliamentary department at 11:00 am at the party central office, party chair KP Sharma Oli will impart training on the role of the lawmakers in the parliament, according to party secretary Padma Aryal. According to Aryal, former secretary of the Parliament Secretariat Harka Raj Rai will brief the lawmakers about the functions, duties and rights of the Parliament Secretariat.
He will also brief about the jurisdiction of the parliamentary committees and the issues to be raised in the committees.
Similarly, party General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel will impart training on the party’s policies and the duties of the lawmakers, Aryal said.
According to him, General Secretary Pokharel will also clarify that every lawmaker should play a role in the parliament as per the party policy and he should coordinate and consult with the party departments on the related issues.
According to Niraj Acharya, head of the publicity and publication department of the party, all the department heads and former members of the department have also been informed to participate in the program.
The concerned departments will recommend the names of subject experts and prepare a roster to advise the lawmakers on parliamentary matters as and when required. Lawmakers from both houses of the House will participate in the program.
