Gagan Thapa urges youths who are contemplating suicide: ‘Don’t do that, friend, we are’
Kathmandu.Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa has urged the youths who are contemplating suicide not to do so.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of ‘Root Campaign’ and announcement of a new campaign organized by the Nepali Congress at the National Assembly Hall in Kathmandu on Thursday, Thapa urged the citizens who are frustrated due to economic, social or any other reasons not to feel lonely.”At this time, as the president of the Nepali Congress, I would like to say that if any youth, any Nepali is thinking of ending his life due to economic, social or any other reason, I want to say on behalf of the president of the Nepali Congress.
We handle it. Let’s do it together. We can’t do it alone, we can do it together. We haven’t even gone that far. Not only me, but the entire Nepali Congress wants to say that we can. This is our biggest responsibility. “
Thapa recalled that Nepali Congress founding leader BP Koirala had taken the main responsibility of politics to listen to the people’s problems and support them.
“For BP, listening to the people was not an extra job, it was the core of politics,” he said.
For BP Koirala, it is not the Congress that does not suffer the sorrow of the people. How can a Congress that only asks for votes become a Congress? There should be a Congress that is visible in times of sorrow. There should be a Congress that is visible in times of pain. This was the biggest thing for BP Koirala. “
Thapa said the NC has already passed the policy of prioritizing social service along with political activities through Mahasamiti meeting and special general convention.
According to him, the Nepali Congress will now focus on the welfare and rights of the citizens by launching the ‘Nepali Congress for National Cause’ campaign.”We have decided from the party’s Mahasamiti meeting that each committee should carry out 50 per cent political work and 50 per cent work for the wider community,” he said.
We have passed the National Renaissance Campaign through the Special Congress. Against this backdrop, we have started the ‘Nepali Congress for National Cause’ campaign from today by organizing a root campaign remembering BP. Its common objective is to work for the welfare of citizens and to stand up for the rights of citizens. ’
