Monitoring, infrastructure improvement and restructuring of the Day Child Center at Singha Durbar
Kathmandu. Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minority and Social Security, Sita Badi, made an onsite inspection of the day care centre in Singha Durbar.
The monitoring team was attended by the concerned officials of the Ministry of Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minority and Social Security and the Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.
During the meeting, Minister Badi observed the operation of the center, child care services, physical infrastructure and overall management.
An on-site inspection was also made about the structural condition of the old building in the premises of the center, its utility and the possibility of using it for the purpose of the day-care center.
Discussions were held on whether to carry out technical study on whether to carry out necessary repair and upgrade of the building and use it for the purpose of day-to-day care centre or to restructure it as per the need of the centre.
Minister Badi stressed the need for safe, well-equipped and child-friendly infrastructure to enhance the quality of early childhood care and protection services.
She stressed the need to forward preparations for possible alternatives for infrastructure development keeping in mind the long-term need of the day-child centre, expansion of services and the best interest of children.
According to the Ministry, an understanding has been reached to forward the process of technical study on the issue of infrastructure improvement and restructuring of the Day Child’s Center by coordinating with the bodies concerned on the basis of the discussion held during the monitoring
