Heavy rains and landslides obstruct major highways of the country
Kathmandu. Major highways and road sections have been obstructed due to incessant rainfall and landslides in different parts of the country. The bodies concerned have urged the bodies concerned to adopt precaution after the transport service was affected due to floods and landslides.
Vehicular movement along the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi section of the BP Highway linking Kavrepalanchowk and Sindhuli has been completely halted due to incessant
rain. Vehicular movement has been prohibited from 6:00 pm to 04:00 am and will remain open during day time in view of possible floods. Similarly, all types of vehicles have been banned on the Kanti Highway in Makwanpur during night due to rainfall.
The Mechi Highway has been completely obstructed at Rajduwali of Ilam Municipality-9 due to incessant rains.
Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-4 in Sindhupalchowk district, Jirokilo and Ward No. The Araniko Highway has also been completely closed due to the landslide of Iku of Kodari-2.
Similarly, landslides occurred at Belbagar of Jaimini municipality-8 in Baglung district completely disrupting the Kaligandaki Corridor.
The Lamasaghu-Ramechhap highway has been obstructed due to the erosion of the Tamakoshi River at Kirnetar of Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-5 in Dolakha district. ROLPA: The Ghorahi-Thawang Martyrs Highway has been completely obstructed due to a dry landslide at Kholawang of Pariwartan rural municipality-1 in Rolpa.
The Nagma-Gamgadi road section has been closed due to landslides and landslides at Pina Khola of Chhayanath Rara Municipality-7 in Mugu district and the Pasang Lhamu road has been obstructed due to landslides at Kulung of Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-3 in Rasuwa district.
Similarly, the Besisahar-Chame-Manang road section has been completely closed due to landslides at Myagde cliff of Marsyangdi rural municipality-4 in Lamjung district.
The Department of Roads and security agencies have said that efforts are being made to open the blocked roads.
Before travelling, they have been requested to know the condition of the road in the concerned area.
