Mugu. A three-year-old boy died and his parents were injured in a landslide that occurred at Pulu Bazaar of Karmarong rural municipality-5 in Mugu district at around 4.00 am on Saturday.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rabiraj Thapaliya of District Police Office, Mugu, the landslide took place at around 4.00 am while Jagannath Baduwal, 32, his wife Srijana Baduwal, 27, and their three-year-old son Ramesh were sleeping at the house of Pema Lama at Pulu Bazaar. Jagannath and Srijana sustained minor injuries in the incident.
They have been rushed to Pulu Health Post for treatment and their condition is normal, police said.
A five-member police team led by Sub Inspector Bir Bahadur Chand and locals rescued three-year-old Ramesh Baduwal from Dolphu Pulu and took him to Pulu Health Post for treatment.
Initially, his condition was said to be moderate.
However, doctors confirmed his death at around 5:45 a. m. According to the police, the house where they were staying was completely damaged by the landslide.
Similarly, 8 other houses around the incident site are also at high risk. Residents of at-risk homes have been shifted to safer places.
Most of them have been kept at their relatives’ houses in Pulu Bazaar while seven
have been temporarily sheltered at Pulu Health Post.
The incident site is some 300 meters west of the police post Dolphu Bridge. Further investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
