. CPN-UML leader and former president of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) Nabina Lama has said that the role of student leaders and former leaders of the organization was important in the party transformation.
Speaking at a program on ‘Role of Former ANNFSU in Party Transformation’, Lama claimed that foreign forces have been looking at Nepal with vulture eyes.
Stating that the forces in the east and west did not like the leading role of the communist movement forwarded by the CPN-UML, she pointed out the need to overcome it.
She said, “The powers at home and abroad are looking at Nepal with vulture eyes. I don’t like the fact that UML is the leader of the UML from the east and west and the UML is the leader of the communist party. Therefore, this matter has to be broken. Our party’s agenda of development and prosperity and the nationality agenda taken by the party chairman were not weak. But even though they are not weak, they have been saying that they have failed in their line of action, that there is a lack of leadership. Jaws according to time and Marxism according to time, youth lead according to time. It is from the former presidents of the ANNFSU. Claiming that the agendas of development, prosperity and nationality promulgated by the UML were not weak, she stressed the need for introspection on the weaknesses seen in the party’s political line and leadership.
Lama was of the view that people’s multiparty democracy (JAWS), Marxism and leadership style should be revised as per the time.
She said that the leadership could come from the youths, especially from among the former presidents of the ANNFSU.
She also said that many youths have been forced to go abroad in recent times and have to stay away due to disappointment despite wanting to work in the party.
Stating that the tendency to get opportunities on the basis of access and faction has increased in the party, she expressed the view that this should be corrected.
She stressed that the CPN-UML should be established as a party moving ahead in the interest of democracy.
