. Nepal Mixed Boxing Association (NMA) in association with Budhanilkantha Municipality is organizing the Third World Mixed Boxing Championship from July 29, 30 and 31 at Mystic Club in Budhanilkantha-3, Kathmandu.
At a press conference held at Budhanilkantha Municipality on Sunday, Mayor Mitharam Adhikari and Deputy Mayor Anita Lama informed about the competition.
According to the organizers, the tournament will be inaugurated on July 30 at 11 am.
According to Rajesh Tamang, president of Nepal Mixed Boxing Association, 11 countries including Nepal are participating in the tournament.
Athletes from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Ghana, USA, Germany, China and Chile will compete in the championship.
Addressing a press conference, Mayor Mitharam Adhikari said that the municipality has been increasing investment for the development of sports sector. Deputy Mayor Anita Lama said the municipality was committed to developing Budhanilkantha as a sports-friendly city. According to the organizers, the tournament is expected to contribute to the development of mixed boxing in Nepal, provide international exposure to young players and promote sports tourism. The Mixed Boxing Association of Nepal has already successfully organized the Asian Mixed Boxing Championship.
The organizers believe that this year’s world-class competition would further strengthen Nepal’s international sports image.
