In exercise of the powers given by sub-section (1) of Section 18 of the Finance Act for the current fiscal year 2083÷84, the government has decided to give full waiver on the fee and also refund the amount collected earlier. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on July 23 had decided to scrap the tuition fee after Prime Minister Balendra Shah announced to scrap the tuition fee for education and health parity.

As per the decision, the government has made public the provision of refunding the fee through a notice published in the Nepal Gazette on Thursday.

Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Dr. The notice issued by Ghanashyam Upadhyay states that the person or entity collecting education or health parity fee should return the amount collected so far to the concerned payer within 15 days.

If the government is unable to return the amount within the stipulated time, it has to deposit such amount in the Federal Consolidated Fund.

With this decision of the government, the service recipients who have paid extra fees for taking education and health services will get relief.

Also, the hospitals, educational institutions and other related bodies that have collected the fees should prepare the details of the amount collected and immediately start the process of returning the money.
