. U. S. President Donald Trump has said that his trust in Iran is “slowly declining”. He accused Iranian officials of repeatedly violating commitments made during the talks.
Addressing a Cabinet meeting at Camp David, Trump said that it is difficult to trust Iran because it has not kept its promises.
“They lie and distort the facts. They’ve always wanted to talk, but they’ve broken their word too many times,” Trump said.
Despite the harsh criticism, he said that high-level talks between the United States and Iran are ongoing.
Special envoy Steve Wittoff, senior adviser Jared Kushner, Vice President J. D. Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are the other members of the negotiating team, Durbar said. “Our very best people are negotiating,” Trump said.
Referring to regional security challenges, he said that the US military base in Jordan was attacked during the talks. He said he had received information about the incident from US defense officials. When asked about the possibility of more attacks from Iran or its proximities, Trump did not rule it out.
‘It would be foolish to say that there is no such possibility. You have to be vigilant at all times,” he said. Trump, however, claimed that Iran’s long-term capabilities will wane, noting that even if it appears to be stronger now, its influence will diminish over time. Trump’s remarks came amid diplomatic talks between Washington and Tehran over Iran’s nuclear programme and the security situation in the Middle East. ANI
